Raggy Charters offers international volunteers the opportunity to become involved in marine conservation and eco projects while experiencing the incredible wildlife of South Africa.
Raggy Charters is the oldest eco-whale watching company in the region and the only operator with all the necessary permits to ensure the highest standards for responsible marine wildlife encounters.
As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to become part of the Raggy Charters team, taking part in a wide range of activities, including environmental education, conservation initiatives, community outreach, marine wildlife monitoring, scientific projects and spending more time at sea while learning from experienced professionals.
Daily operations including but are not limited to: assisting with the preparation and running of boat trips, helping to maintain our boats, welcoming and interacting with guests, sharing information about marine wildlife and supporting research activities whenever required. During our cruises, we collect valuable data on the whales and dolphins and we do photo-identification, and volunteers are encouraged to participate in this process. The photographs and the data contribute to long-term studies on cetacean populations, migration patterns, behaviour, and conservation.

Coming from the United Kingdom, currently volunteering, helping with marine mammal sightings, photo-identification, data collection, and data processing. They also assist with boat maintenance, ensure a positive atmosphere within the team, and help tourists and guests on board whenever needed.
