Bay Action Network Alliance (BANA) picks up speed and makes it clear during its official launch Wednesday night, Nov. 1, 2023, at the Port of Port Elizabeth that there is no more time to waste in facing environmental issues together.
“We need to get into action,” notes Lloyd Edwards, chairman of BANA and owner of Raggy Charters – “meetings, talks and action plans are not enough.” Shaun van Eck, Project Manager of Discover Mandela Bay Tourism, called on all visitors to the public launch event to get personally involved in “our marine tourism revolution”.
So one of the main tasks of BANA will be to take care of education in the communities and to support the protection of the maritime ecosystem. After all, how are people supposed to want to protect something they have no connection to, don’t know about, and don’t feel connected to.
